young people deserve a vote 🔥🗳️

Students spend more time in classrooms than anyone else—but they don’t get a say in the decisions that shape their education. That needs to change.

The Student Voice and Democracy Act (HB 3012) would allow eligible and registered 16- and 17-year-olds to vote in local Oregon school board elections—because students deserve a seat at the table when decisions about their education are being made.

This is our moment to make history. Lawmakers are listening—but only if we speak up. Please fill out the quick form below to send an email to your representatives to share your support! If we want this bill to move forward, we need to show strong public support—and that starts with you.

the student voice and democracy act

We can create more robust student engagement by giving students a voice in their schools while preparing them to be lifelong voters engaged in our democracy.

Students report that many schools face challenges, with school board members needing to be more aware of their priorities. Too often, programs or needs students highly value are ignored or cut.

The Student Voice and Democracy Act, HB 3012, will allow registered 16 and 17-year-olds to vote in local school board elections, giving students a voice in their education and strengthening our democracy.
