During the pandemic, nonprofits and mutual aid networks have tried to fill gaps in community care through pooling resources, uplifting aid requests, and raising money for programs. Raising money for a shared goal, a community, or a person by asking our networks to give goes back generations. But some fundraising practices deepen inequities and injustice, while others can help heal them.
In this panel, we’re focusing on the basics of grassroots fundraising. Join Next Up and our panel of fundraisers and community organizers to talk about what grassroots fundraising is, what it can look like in nonprofit and mutual aid contexts, and why it matters to young people. We’ll also end with a short fundraising training.
